We finally have our winner, and I’m so happy about it! (And yes, it totally slipped my mind to send this on Christmas Eve.)
Kendrick Sampson is our King of Christmas! He’s the perfect winner because he seems like a good guy, he’s in interesting shows like Insecure (but he’s not everywhere yet), and Prime’s Something from Tiffany’s was one of the best holiday movies of the year. Plus…that face!
Eight things to know about Kendrick Sampson
Something from Tiffany’s wasn’t his first holiday movie. He was in a 2019 Hulu movie called Ghosting: The Spirit of Christmas and starred in an Audible original called “Let it Snow” with Jurnee Smollett.
His facial expressions are the cutest.
He is a devoted activist for Black empowerment.
His favorite Christmas song is “All I Want for Christmas” by Mariah Carey, his favorite holiday movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas, and his favorite holiday side dish is candied yams.
He’s a Pisces and an emotionally sensitive dreamer who loves a good cry.
He consulted on Something from Tiffany’s through his company BLD PWR to make sure the movie’s relationships were culturally authentic, including for a scene where he styles his daughter’s natural hair. “I was just like, ‘Ain't no way a single dad is getting away with not doing her hair.”
He loves a tuna melt but never eats “dense-ass” “dry-ass” bagels.
You can find him in Adele’s “I Drink Wine” music video.
Well, I guess that’s a wrap!
We laughed, we cried, we uncovered mysteries, we were deeply confused. I had so much fun these last two months. Thanks to everyone who subscribed, voted, and yell-texted me.
I’ll leave you with Decider’s list of the 22 most unhinged moments from the worst holiday movie of the year (decade?): Netflix’s I Believe in Santa.I guess I’ll go talk to my family now?????? See you in 2023…
